Health System Transformation
Dr. Meisinger is an international expert on healthcare system transformation with a focus on the patient centeredness. She was National Faculty Co-Chair for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) initiative “Transforming Clinical Practices Initiative” (TCPi), an initiative which transformed over 140,000 US practices to value-based, patient centered medical care. She was co-chair of the National Collaborative for Health Equity (sponsored by NCQA) and a member of the expert panel for the Health Care Homes initiative in Australia. She works with the Brazil team of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement to design and implement national pilots for Primary Care transformation. She is an accompanier at Wellbeing and Equity in the World, an organization devoted to advancing wellbeing and equity by designing cross sector collaboration.
Academics
Dr. Meisinger is the Director of System Transformation and Leadership, at Tufts Medical School Department of Family Medicine and held that same role at the Harvard Center for Primary Care, at Harvard Medical School until July 2025 when the Center closed. She leads partnerships with innovative organizations, including the National Association of Community Health Centers, Upstream USA and Oak Street Health. She has faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School, Tufts University, The MGH Institute of Health Professions, Tiradentes University, Brazil, and the Latin America Team at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI).
Clinical and Operations Leadership
Dr. Meisinger has had several leadership roles at The Cambridge Health Alliance, including Medical Staff President, co-Director of Provider Engagement and Clinical Lead for Telehealth. She also held transformative positions as Medical Director of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Medical Director of the Union Square Family Health Center, an award-winning Patient Centered Medical Home practice that was selected as one of the top 30 Ambulatory care sites in the US by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She has an active panel of patients she has cared for over the past 26 years and sees patients 3 days a week.
Board Memberships
Dr. Meisinger is Board Chair of One Heart Worldwide, an organization transforming maternal and neonatal healthcare in Nepal. She is a Board member of the Quality Subcommittee for Fallon Healthcare. She is a longstanding Board member of Legal Key, formerly known as The Medical Legal Partnership, Boston.
Education
Dr. Meisinger earned a BA from Brown University, her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, a Family Medicine Residency at the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and a Master of Health Care Delivery Science (MHCDS) degree from Dartmouth University.
Dr. Meisinger speaks fluent Portuguese, Spanish and French. She can get away with ordering food in German.
